Fair Trade is an international development tool - a more dignified and sustainable alternative to aid. It is a way to honor differing cultures around the world. As outlined by the Fair Trade Federation, at One World Handcrafts we are committed to the following principles:

Producers receive a fair price with 50% when the order is placed and payment in full when the order is ready to be shipped
Long term relationships exist between buyers and producers
Producers have access to financial and technical assistance
Sustainable, environmentally-friendly production techniques are encouraged
Working conditions are healthy and safe
Equal employment opportunities are provided for all
All aspects of trade and production are open to public accountability
No allowance for forced labor or exploitative child labor
